Moving Design is a coalition of Chicago designers and artists, working with community partners, leading initiatives that inspire change through the power of design. Led by Rick Valicenti of Thirst, this year's call-to-action was to inspire environmentally sustainable living in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
How might we use public space to build environmental sustainability awareness and education?
How might we encourage West Loop residents to take ownership of their local environment?
How might we spur behavior change toward environmentally sustainable living?
My Role: Design Facilitator
I facilitated the design process and guided the strategy of the interventions so they would speak to the West Loop residents and elicit the desired awareness, education, and behavior change

How do you convince your neighbors to recycle or to use less electricity? In Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, mud stenciling, moss graffiti and Works Progress Administration-inspired posters were a few of the media used by a group of designers to educate and inspire sustainable change. They came together under the umbrella of Moving Design, a nonprofit coalition formed to translate into action artistic talent and a desire to do good.
